Romans, knights and gnomes - Go exploring in the Nijmegen region

There are plenty of things to entertain children in the Nijmegen region. Museums and amenities often offer special hands-on activities. Our tips? The Archeolab at Het Valkhof Museum! Here, children can build their own Roman bridges or fire a catapult while learning all about these early inhabitants of the Nijmegen region. It seems as if they never actually left when you visit the Roman street in Museumpark Orientalis. Or let your children follow in the footsteps of knights in one of the castles, such as Doornenburg Castle, Hernen Castle or Wijchen Castle. You’ll find a completely different world along the gnomes’ route (Kabouterroute). Take a look at the gnomes’ tree, the Kabouterboom, the thickest tree in the Netherlands. The children can sing songs about gnomes along the way. After all these discoveries, they (and you) have definitely earned a pancake! Pancakes are a typical Dutch treat, delicious covered in a thick layer of syrup. Enjoy!
