N70 Nature Trail: A unique hike in Rijk van Nijmegen

There are few walking routes in the Netherlands as unique as the N70 Nature Trail in Rijk van Nijmegen. The Nature Trail is characterised by the wide variety of routes and starting locations and the numerous distance options. The route crosses eight hills through the rolling forests of Berg en Dal and its surroundings. The hilly landscape offers beautiful views of the polders, floodplains and the river landscapes of the rivers Waal and Rhine along the way. The cultural and historical nature of the N70 Nature Trail is also unique. The origins of the N70 route go back to 1970—the conservation year. The N70 has become a very popular route among nature lovers, hikers and runners since then.

The N70 Nature Route: marking, distance and elevation

The route is 14.2 kilometres long and includes around 375 metres of elevation. It has become a popular training course for runners, trail runners and long-distance walkers due to the intensity of some of its sections. The route includes around 500 steps!
