The village of Groesbeek played a crucial role in the liberation of the Netherlands during Operation Market Garden in 1944. In this last year of the war, the Allies and the occupier fought hard here. You can walk through the area where many a paratrooper landed. At several spots along the route, you will notice Liberation Route markers. At these spots, you can listen to the stories about the various events that took place during the Second World War. On a clear day, you will have a view of Germany. Combine your walk with a visit to the Canadian Honorary Cemetery and the National Liberation Museum 1944-1945.
